I love being a stage mom. Although it’s no walk in the park, but only on those challenges that I celebrate/d victories. So it’s exponentially rewarding! In fact, this blog was born out of my then stay-at-home parenting adventures plus my stage mothering. *LoL Although I’m now back to corporate employment, it’s all the same to me, as they say, a working mother is redundant!
My friends will know that I am to the highest level OC (Obsessive Compulsive) when it comes to my son’s safety. In fact, my brother in law nicknamed me germ patrol. Why won’t I be such, when I have for a sister who is a Hospital Infection Control Consultant, she sees germs everywhere! *LoL For that we use as much as possible hospital-grade disinfectant, alcohol etc. So my son develops a habit of saying “hand gel please!” ;-D
You see, he’s our only child, and the first born on both sides of the family. So over-protectiveness is a family affair. When he was born, we had to leave him a week in the hospital’s NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). Sad. It’s my first heartbreak as a mom! On his third month, I had no nanny for those first three months, that time, on what could have been me just being really tired and sleepy, I doze off, had a momentary deep sleep, and suddenly woke up, and panicked and mistook him as not breathing. Parenting books speak off SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), and to my paranoia, I felt it was the case. We rushed him in the middle of the night to the ER and had his first X-ray. He was just sleeping soundly. Hah. ;-D So there you see, I painted quite a picture of my OC-ness. It runs deep. Haha. So when it comes to my son, I am always on my toes…Safety first above all else, and I never did fully learn to loosen up. In fact, I can’t wholeheartedly let my now 7-yr old son play football because he gets so tired, and dirty, and it’s under the sun, and it’s so dusty…yada yada. I rationalize it by saying it triggers his allergic rhinitis. You get what I mean? Yes, I can be that kill joy OC.

Fret not, I let him play outdoor too! In fact, for the summer, he’s up for Karatedo, Swimming, and Basketball. ;-D |
I relish being actively involved in his formative years, partnering with the school in his development from then as a stay-at-home-mom, up to present. It’s such a second nature, that even today when I’m back to corporate employment as a Customer Business Development Manager (a.k.a. Sales and Marketing gal), we committed to still be actively highly engaged in his new school. For holistic learning to take place, we are a proponent of home, school and community collaboration for Early Child Education .You can say that I/we make it a career to have an active role in the Parent Association. *LoL (I can *LoL in this post but believe me when I say that this is no easy task, it’ really a career. As in we invest serious time in attending board meetings, and actively taking part in school and student affairs, we proudly say… It’s for the love of our boys!) ;-D
