First Impression: Tony Moly Vitamin Essence Mask Sheet

Annyeonghaseyo! ;-D I happened to read somewhere (I’m backtracking now, I’ll share asap!) that we can actually indulge on Korean Mask Sheets as much as we want, depending on our skin type. Although, it’s recommended to at least use a mask twice a week to see visible results. Personally, I maintain a good balance on my usage of gentle-for-everyday-care type of mask vs. the intensive treatment masks. My mainstay mask which I use every other day is the Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Clay Mask, while in between, if I have more “me” time, I try out various masks from other brands. But I make sure to use the SkinFood’s Acorn Jelly Mask once a week. I find this intensive and more targeted effect in sebum-control. I’ll do a review next. Anyhow, for today’s mask, I used the Tony Moly Vitamin Essence Mask Sheet. I got this a while back from Seoul, it’s one of the freebie that my friend got from shopping at Myeongdong.

Tony Moly Vitamin Essence Mask Sheet contains Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate (better known as Licorice Root Extract), Collagen. Recommended for All Skin types, 4 Seasons. ;-D
No English Labels. Fret not, I’m a certified mask aficionado.

The mask doesn’t speak of a targeted benefit, so it’s more of a mainstream mask for general skin care needs. But from all the listed ingredients, it’s a packet ful of goodies for nourishing (from Vitamin C &E), brightening (Licorice Root Extract), and moisturizing (for Collagen… addicted to Collagen much! ;-D).

It smells citrusy. It’s not really soaking wet with essence. There’s barely anything left from the packet, unlike from the others.

How to use?

  • After washing the face, apply toner, pat dry.
  • Make sure to keep hair off the face, put on the mask.
  • Leave on for 15-20 minutes.
  • Take off.
  • If there are remaining essence on the packet, apply, massage, and leave on.
  • No need to rinse off.
  • Depending on skin type, you can opt to proceed to your usual skin care line (emulsion, serum, cream, etc.) Personally, collagen/moisturizing masks of all sorts and brands will leave the skin uber dewy and moisturize, so I’m content to take a break on my usual moisturizers.
Masked. This one is not a full mask per se, it has slits near the forehead, cheeks, and chins, so you can adjust and fit it snuggly accordingly. I like that. It also touches on under my eyes, that’s a plus, so it works as a makeshift eye masks too. Except that the sheet between my upper lip and nose is a bit bigger or wider, it’s covering my nostrils, I had to fold it.
Before. I reached for it because I’ve been worried, it’s one of those days that I get breakouts from all sorts, thankfully nothing major. I also neglected my face (sweaty and oily…yikes!)  for the day because I was on my Day 1 of packing. Just in case, the story behind it is we’re moving to a new city, so it’s strenuous and stressing at the same time. So I need Vitamins…loads of it! ;-D
Overall, the Tony Moly Vitamin Essence Mask didn’t break me out. In fact, it soothed and calmed the rashes on my forehead, so there’s brightening effect per se. The moisturizing is not too rich too. It feels so light. It doesn’t leave me overly shining too, just the right healthy glow. In a way, I don’t know what to look for in the after effect, because it’s more of a jack-of-all-trades type of mask, I just know it’s very good, but I can’t distinctly tell. It’s a good balancing mask when on preventive mode. Will I repurchase? I can’t say how much, but I do know that it’s used as GWP (gift with purchase) at some point at Tony Moly Ph. If I get more of it as freebies, I’ll probably use it along side my mainstay mask, use it twice or thrice a week. I feel it’s gentle enough for that. ;-D Although, personally, I’d like to invest on mask with targeted reinforced benefits a la snail masks. ;-D

Have you tried this mask yet? What’s your favorite facial mask, please do share? ^_^

  1. I'm using the Gold Caviar Line at night time, it's too rich with the weather in the Philippines. In the morning, I use the SkinFood Platinum Grape Cell Toner and Emulsion, because I only have the gift sets. But I'm getting the Essence soon, i tried the samples, I like it, it's a go between the emulsion and the cream. The line is suitable for the sunny weather, it's not too rich and greasy in the morning. 🙂 I'll do a post soon. 🙂
