Long Weekend for Chinese New Year 2012

January 23, 2012, which will commence the celebration of the Chinese New Year is declared as a special non-working holiday in the Philippines. It’s significance is further emphasized because it’s the Year of the Dragon. 😀

The Dragon is a creature of myth and legend. A symbol of good fortune, and sign of intense power.

Under Proclamation No. 295, s. 2011

WHEREAS, on January 23, 2012, the Chinese nationals all over the world will celebrate Spring Festival, popularly known as the Chinese New Year, which is one of the most revered and festive events celebrated not only in China but also in the Philippines by both Chinese Filipinos and ordinary Filipinos as well; and the joint celebration is a manifestation of our solidarity with our Chinese Filipino brethren who have been part of our lives in many respects as a country and as a people; 23 January 2012 may be declared as a special (non-working) day without detriment to public interest; – Official Ph Gazette

The year of the dragon is traditionally associated with new beginnings and good fortune. Those with entrepreneurial spirit are particularly favored to see much success in the coming year. Generally, it’s predicted that any new venture may benefit from the outstanding luck often associated with the dragon.   1. 2012 os the year of the water dragon.. And I'm a fire dragon! And they said it's not my lucky year! Urgh! Nahh I don't want to believe that.. Hehe.. (crossing my fingers).. I'm still hoping for the best and thinking positive! Good luck to us this yr of the dragon! 🙂
