Back to Black Hair, Another Misadventure

Tony Moly Silky Glaze Speedy Hair Color Natural Brown Php 320 ++

There’s been much ravings about Tony Moly’s arrival to the Philippines. It’s another Korean Brand. And it’s endorsed by Song Joong Ki of Sungkyunkwan Scandal. Although, it was Kim Hyun Joong before him. It got me a bit confused because videos of Kim Hyun Joong are still shown on the website of Tony Moly. So I asked about it when I visited The Face Shop to get my refill of cleansing wipes. And they told me that Kim Hyun Joong was doing Tony Moly before he joined The Face Shop.

Since I wasn’t able to go to Manila to visit Tony Moly, I bought the hair color online. It’s about the same price. There’s no review about it. So I’m just being totally brave. I’m hoping that the results would be as dramatic as the recent ravings of the Etude House’s Bubble Hair Coloring. And from the online product info, it’s suppose to be easier to apply than the others. Oh well, sadly it’s another misadventure for me on my another attempt to DIY hair coloring.

I’m almost done with the process. But I have a nagging feeling that it’s another mishap!Ā

I will not bravely walk you through how I did the steps. Since there’s no English Instruction, I called the store in Manila to asked how to apply this. It seemed I got it right. You have to mix Tube 1 and Tube 2, where to do that? I’m not sure, because there’s no container included. So I tested it in a small bowl by combining the two. It produces a black, henna like formula. The Tube 2 is supposed to contain conditioning ingredients to come up with a Silky Glaze effect. I let it stay for 30 minutes. Again, I got confirmation from the store that this one doesn’t really have an after application conditioner. So I had to make do with my regular conditioner.

My Before has hints of dark auburn, also a result of my misadventures on DIY hair coloring (I was aiming for Light Ash Blonde). So I wanted to get a natural brown effect since I got a lighter base to begin with. But instead, it’s back to black! āœŒ

Black is my natural hair color. But it’s been a while since I had it on. I wanted to get a bolder, lighter shade. For the mean time, I’m giving it months before I try out coloring again. This time I’ll try the salon, because it would be harder to get a lighter effect given that I’m now adorning a midnight black hair. āœŒ

  1. I happened to try Etude House's hair colors and tried natural brown first, it was horrible I tell you, it was really uneven, I guess because I have long hair? But when I used the black one on top of it a few weeks later, a nice brown color showed up after a few washes and now I like my hair color šŸ™‚

  2. Hi Alyssa, sadly, it's still black. I've tried going to salons right after, but they turned me down. It's been over three months, I visited a salon last week, they told me they can do a strand test. :)) I'll give an update.
