Nursery Rhyme Time

Few days ago, Chase had a last song syndrome of a song he learned in school, Preschoolville Learning Center. He kept repeating a line, since he did not memorized the whole thing yet. He asked me if I know a song that goes…♬β™ͺ This old man…paddy whack, give a dog a bone…♬β™ͺ I’m familiar with the hymn, but not the lyrics. I tried mumbling, but he’s telling me that I got it wrong. So I told him that I’ll look at the lyrics online. And we’ve been singing since…;-D

This Old Man Lyrics

This old man, he played one,
He played knick-knack on my thumb.
With a knick-knack, paddy whack,
Give a dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.
This old man, he played two,
He played knick-knack on my shoe.
With a knick-knack, paddy whack,
Give a dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.
This old man, he played three,
He played knick-knack on my knee.
With a knick-knack, paddy whack,
Give a dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.
This old man, he played four,
He played knick-knack on my door.
With a knick-knack, paddy whack,
Give a dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.
This old man, he played five,
He played knick-knack on my hive.
With a knick-knack, paddy whack,
Give a dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.
This old man, he played six,
He played knick-knack on my sticks.
With a knick-knack, paddy whack,
Give a dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.
This old man, he played seven,
He played knick-knack up in heaven.
With a knick-knack, paddy whack,
Give a dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.
This old man, he played eight,
He played knick-knack on my gate.
With a knick-knack, paddy whack,
Give a dog a bone,
This old man came rolling home.
This old man, he played nine.
He played knick-knack on my spine.
With a knick-knack, paddy whack,
Give a dog a bone.
This old man came rolling home.
This old man, he played ten.
He played knick-knack once again.
With a knick-knack, paddy whack,
Give a dog a bone.
This old man came rolling homeΒ

  1. I've long known this song, but have forgotten the corresponding rhyming words to some of the numbers. Cute right? Easy enough to memorize (if you're not in your late 30s like me!). πŸ™‚
